Michigan Auto Law attorney wins $1.45 million on $175,000 Wayne County case evaluation
One of our Michigan Auto Law attorneys was featured in Michigan Lawyers Weekly for his $1.45 million truck accident trial verdict. The verdict came down on May 17 in Wayne County Circuit Court, in Detroit.
The truck accident at the center of the lawsuit occurred in March 2009. The defendant was driving a semi-truck and his truck struck an overpass, causing the load he was carrying to spill onto the freeway – in front of the plaintiff’s vehicle. The plaintiff could not avoid the spilled load, and therefore suffered several injuries from the resulting crash, including a neck injury that required surgery, a shoulder injury that required arthroscopic surgery, and a mild traumatic brain injury.
The defense lawyer tried to argue that our client had pre-existing injuries and treatment, because he was a long-time tradesman. But the jury rejected these arguments, and the testimony from seven defense experts at trial, and found the plaintiff will never work again after his neck injury and surgery.
