Truck accident attorney featured on Fox News: Drug abuse among truckers

November 10, 2009 by Steven M. Gursten

Steven M. Gursten highlights rampant drug use by truck drivers trying to stay alert and relieve stress – and how truck companies turning a blind eye are able to avoid criminal punishment after preventable truck crashes

Truck accident attorney Steve Gursten is featured in an investigative Fox News Chicago story that suggests many truck companies have yet to get the message that truckers using drugs on the road is dangerous and illegal. Gursten discusses the safety epidemic, in which truckers and their bosses would rather pay a small fine for skipping a drug test after a truck accident, than pay a multi-million dollar verdict if the driver gets tested and turns out to be high.

Gursten says that sometimes truck drivers in Michigan avoid their post-crash drug tests by making sure they can’t be found. Fox reporter Larry Yellen interviews him in detail for a television and print report.

Here’s the Fox News print story: Drug abuse among truck drivers
