Low-impact car accident results in $2.5 million jury verdict in Michigan

January 23, 2004 by Steven M. Gursten

Car accident lawyer Steven M. Gursten tells Michigan Lawyers Weekly exactly how he won the rear-end crash case

Car accident lawyer Steven M. Gursten is interviewed on his $2.5 million verdict for a low-impact car crash – the largest reported Michigan auto verdict for 2003. The auto accident victim was in a rear-end collision, never lost consciousness and her vehicle sustained no damages. Yet the jury verdict was 10 times the defendant’s highest offer to settle.

Gursten said one of the keys to winning the car accident lawsuit was preventing the defendant’s bio-mechanical expert from testifying the crash victim could not have been injured in such a low-impact auto accident. He said lawyers should never assume a car accident case like this has no value, and gave several tips on how to win such cases.
