Legal Experience

Prior to joining Michigan Auto Law, Josh worked for a Michigan personal injury law firm in Southfield, where he focused his practice on helping auto accident victims pursue damages for pain and suffering, as well as No-Fault insurance benefits.

He also worked for a Rochester law firm, where he litigated commercial claims.

While in law school at Wayne State University, Josh was a research and teacher’s assistant to Professor Steven M. Davidoff. His research focused on international takeovers and international securities regulation. It was accepted and published by the North Carolina Law Review.

I was minding my own business sitting at a red light and a guy rear ended me. AAA wasn't paying my medical bills but they made me feel like the criminal. They wouldn't even cover my wheelchair after surgery! I had no intention of suing anybody. I just wanted to be fixed and go on with my life. I was getting all kinds of calls for bill collectors for my medical bills. I told a friend about it and he suggested I might need an attorney to help. I went with Michigan Auto Law over other firms based on a great recommendation and because they only do car accidents. My first impression was a very good one because I felt like they cared. I wasn't just a dollar. Most people treat you like that and I don't like that. Here, if you don't understand something, they don't let you out of the room until you understand and I like that. My time is never up with my attorneys. Josh, my litigation attorney, was open with me. He kept me informed of everything. If I had any questions, i was able to call him at any time. He's a good guy. He settled my case quickly but more importantly, I was happy with the settlement. Josh also saw to it that my insurance medical benefits were paid by my insurance company. He basically forced them to do the right thing because I knew it was out of my hands. I recommend this firm to anybody. Josh knows his stuff. I know even though my case is settled, I still have an open line to Josh for any help I may need in the future with medical bills or anything else. I was at a stop sign approaching a busy road and I was T-boned by another driver who was on the shoulder rather than being on her lane. I went to the ER and was released that day, but the biggest problem I had was with my shoulder. The pain was so bad that that I wasn’t able to take care of my grandchildren like I was used to. I knew about Michigan Auto Law because of the great things Michigan Lawyers Weekly had written about the firm (I actually used to work there in advertising). So I called Steve Gursten and told him about my accident. He kindly took the time and got back to me and said Brandon Hewitt would be in touch to get my case rolling. Brandon started out my case and the fact gathering. Brandon did a great job of introducing the process. He met with us and was very helpful in helping us understand where we were going with the lawsuit. Brandon was also really helpful in handling the no fault claims for doctors. My wife and I were stopped waiting for a car a head of us to make a right hand turn and a kid came through the green light and by the time we turned around, we stopped and he couldn't. We had two different insurance adjusters and when they realized this was going to be a long term medical issue, we waited for more than six weeks to hear back from one of the adjusters. When I finally called, I found out she wasn't with the company any more, and then I couldn't get any returned calls. By then there were four weeks left before the one year date to file a lawsuit for my No fault benefits. The insurance company kept delaying getting an adjuster to help us so at that point, I knew I needed an attorney to represent us. And for all that time, they paid very little of our medical expenses, which were high. I found Michigan Auto Law online and chose this firm because of all of the great things other people in our shoes said about their service. Our case started with Jordan Jones. He began the lawsuit for us. We liked him very much. He listened to everything that was going on and ran with the case, working so our insurance company would provide us with benefits. I was hit from behind. The other person was on their cell phone and ran a red light in the school zone. I came 15 feet from hitting a group of kids who were crossing with a cross guard.
