Watch Out For the 5 Most Dangerous Intersections in Macomb County, Michigan

Driving on the east side of metro Detroit any time soon? You might want to take extra caution approaching the intersection at 11 Mile Road and Van Dyke Avenue. According to a report by the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments (SEMCOG), more than 650 car accidents occurred there from 2003 to 2007. Read on for more treacherous intersections in the area.

11 Mile Road and Van Dyke Avenue in Centerline, Michigan
With more than 650 traffic accidents in a four-year period, 11 Mile Road and Van Dyke Avenue is not only the most dangerous intersection in Macomb County. Believe it or not, the intersection hosted the most accidents in all of southeast Michigan.


12 Mile Road and Dequindre Road in Warren, Michigan

The Universal Mall sits at the corner of 12 Mile Road and Dequindre Road. One might surmise that people are in a hurry to shop and not paying as much attention to their driving, especially since this intersection has had more than 295 motor vehicle accidents from 2003 to 2007, according to SEMCOG.

11 Mile Road and Dequindre Road in Warren, Michigan
Right down the road from the Detroit College of Business Warren campus, which is part of Davenport University and St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital, is the intersection of 11 Mile Road and Dequindre Road. The spot appears on SEMCOG’s list as the third most dangerous intersection in Macomb County. More than 260 accidents were reported here between 2003 and 2007.

21 Mile Road and Gratiot Avenue in New Baltimore, Michigan
Out in New Baltimore lies the fourth most dangerous intersection in Macomb County. SEMCOG states that the juncture of Gratiot Avenue and 21 Mile Road was responsible for more than 250 automobile accidents from 2003 to 2007.


23 Mile Road and Gratiot Avenue in New Baltimore, Michigan

Not far from Interstate 94 and also in New Baltimore is the fifth most dangerous intersection in Macomb County, which rounds out our list of the most dangerous intersections in Macomb County, Michigan. The cross streets of 23 Mile Road and Gratiot Avenue had more than 240 accidents from 2003 to 2007.

Those driving through Macomb County should take extra precautions when proceeding through these five intersections because they are ripe for car accidents.
