#SafeDriveSummer is our campaign to inspire Michigan drivers to drive safely this summer – and every summer. The 100 Deadliest Days for drivers of all ages – but especially teenagers – is the period of time between Memorial Day and Labor Day. It accounts for approximately 30% of all fatal motor vehicle crashes in Michigan for the entire year. If we educate and work together, we can save lives.
To be a part of #SafeDriveSummer, we invite drivers like you to submit a funny video of yourself safely mimicking the not-so-safe driving habits of someone you know such as your parent, your child, a family member or a friend. You can also submit a video of your child mimicking your bad driving habits – which will shine a light on just how much of an impact adult driving habits have on our little ones in the backseat.
Of course, by “safely” we mean not while you are actually driving.

Our hope is that with the use of a little good-natured and light-hearted humor, we can motivate the people we love – as well as all the people with whom we share the road – to replace their bad driving habits with new, safer ones. This will make the roads safer for everyone.
The best videos will be posted on Michigan Auto Law’s social media pages and the names of the drivers who submitted the videos will be placed into a drawing to win a Gas Gift Card. We will announce the winners of the #SafeDriveSummer Gas Gift Cards in August and September on Michigan Auto Law’s Facebook and Instagram pages.
Follow us on social media for valuable tips, fun trivia, and helpful advice on talking to teens about safe driving.
Together, through education and awareness, we can make a real difference.
What is Michigan Auto Law’s #SafeDriveSummer?

The goal of Michigan Auto Law’s #SafeDriveSummer campaign is to raise awareness about the most dangerous time of year to drive in Michigan. Our hope is that together we can prevent car accidents and save lives. Michigan traffic fatalities have been on the rise in recent years, and the 100-day period between Memorial Day and Labor Day has consistently proven to be especially deadly for drivers.
#SafeDriveSummer gives Michigan residents who are 16 years of age or older and who have a valid Michigan driver’s license the opportunity to compete to win a Gas Gift Card. If a contest participant is under the age of 18, a parental or guardian consent form must be signed by a parent or guardian if the participant is selected as a winner. Additionally, if a child under the age of 18 appears in your video, a consent form signed by the child’s parent or guardian must accompany your video submission.
To eligible to win, we invite you to do the following:
- Follow Michigan Auto Law on social media – @MichiganAutoLaw on Facebook and/or @_autolaw on Instagram
- Create a funny video of you safely mimicking the not-so-safe driving habits of someone you know such as your parent, your child, a family member or a friend. You can also submit a video of your child mimicking your bad driving habits. Please note that by “safely” we mean not while you are actually driving a vehicle.
- Submit your video to Michigan Auto Law by using our form below
- Share your video on your social media channels, tagging Michigan Auto Law and using #SafeDriveSummer
- Submit your video by August 20, 2024, to be considered for the August #SafeDriveSummer Gas Gift Card.
- Submit your video by September 20, 2024, to be considered for the September #SafeDriveSummer Gas Gift Card.
- Winners for the August Gas Gift Card are not eligible to win the September Gas Gift Card.
The best videos will be posted on Michigan Auto Law’s social media pages and if your video is posted, your name will be submitted into a drawing to win a Gas Gift Card.
To determine the best #SafeDriveSummer videos, the videos will be judged and evaluated based on the following factors: (1) ability to use humor to shed light on bad driving habits that we should all be aware of, (2) ability persuade others to drive safely, (3) ability to catch people’s attention, (4) creativity, and (5) compliance with the #SafeDriveSummer Official Rules contained in this section.
We will announce the winners of the #SafeDriveSummer Gas Gift Cards in August and September on Michigan Auto Law’s Facebook and Instagram pages.
