Public Acts 354 and 355 of 2012 – Elderly Driving Law

Case Impact

Doctors can – but are not obligated to – notify the Secretary of State if they believe their patients, including the elderly, have heath conditions that render them unfit to drive. These health conditions include dementia, vision loss, epilepsy and other age-related problems. Doctors can give recommendations for time the patients’ should stay off the road before being reviewed by the state.
