The underlying traffic accident data analysis is compiled using motor vehicle accident reports filed by local law enforcement and police departments throughout Michigan.

More Information On The Top 2 of Oakland County’s Most Dangerous Intersections
No. 1: MARTIN PKWY @ N PONTIAC TRL, Commerce Township (Roundabout)
The largest roundabout in Oakland County is again in the #1 spot on the list of Oakland County’s Most Dangerous Intersections.
Total crashes in 2024 were down to 151 from 160 in 2023. In 2022, there were 126 motor vehicle accidents at this interchange. In 2021, 2020, and 2019, there were 140, 110, and 161, respectively.
Injuries in 2024 dropped to 9 from 11 in 2023, 13 in 2022, and 18 in 2021. In 2020 and 2019, there were 4 and 12 injuries, respectively.

No. 2: ORCHARD LAKE RD @ 14 MILE RD, Farmington Hills (Roundabout)
This congested Oakland County roundabout finds itself in the #2 spot on the list of Oakland County’s Most Dangerous Intersections. Previously, it was #2 on the lists for 2020, 2021 and 2023.
Significantly, this congested Oakland County roundabout saw significant decreases in both total crashes and injuries in 2024.
Total crashes dropped to 109 in 2024 from 132 in 2023.
And injuries fell from 12 in 2023 to 5 in 2024.
Previous years have seen significant fluctuations in the number of motor vehicle accidents occurring at this roundabout. In 2022, there were 64 accidents whereas, in 2021, there were 122 total crashes. In 2020, there were 89. But in 2019, there 178 – the highest number in the five-year period between 2019-2023.
Injuries have also fluctuated in previous years, but not as drastically, except for 2022. In 2022, 2021, 2020 and 2019, there were 4, 15, 11 and 22 injuries respectively.
