Our list of Ingham County’s most dangerous intersections reflects the latest car accident data available from 2022 on the top 10 interchanges with the highest number of reported car crashes. Our attorneys would like to thank the Michigan State Police Traffic Crash Reporting Unit for helping us by providing the car accident data that we use to identify these intersections. The underlying traffic accident data analysis is compiled using motor vehicle accident reports filed by local law enforcement and police departments throughout Michigan.

  2. MARTIN LUTHER KING JR BLVD @ W SAINT JOSEPH ST, Lansing, 55 Total Crashes, 13 Injuries
  3. MARTIN LUTHER KING JR BLVD @ W MAIN ST, Lansing, 53 Total Crashes, 17 Injuries
  4. GRAND RIVER AVE @ S HAGADORN RD, East Lansing, 46 Total Crashes, 7 Injuries
  5. JOLLY RD @ S CEDAR ST, Lansing, 41 Total Crashes, 8 Injuries
  6. GRAND RIVER AVE @ N HOWARD ST, Lansing Township, 40 Total Crashes, 14 Injuries
  7. MARTIN LUTHER KING JR BLVD @ W HOLMES RD, Lansing, 35 Total Crashes, 2 Injuries
  8. GRAND RIVER AVE @ N CLIPPERT ST, Lansing, 33 Total Crashes, 5 Injuries

The crash data encompasses and includes any traffic accident reported that occurred within 200 feet of an intersection including near freeways (and their subsequent on-ramps off-ramps and service streets), divided highways and rural roads.)

More Information On The Top 2 of Ingham County’s Most Dangerous Intersections

No. 1: SAGINAW ST @ N HOMER ST, Lansing Township

Although this is the second year in a row that this intersection has landed in the #1 spot on our Ingham County’s Most Dangerous Intersections list, the good news is that crashes and injuries have gone down.

In 2022, total crashes were 57 which is a nearly 33% drop from 85 in 2021. Injuries decreased by nearly 35% from 26 in 2021 to 15 in 2022.

Unfortunately, the 2022 numbers were still higher than the 41 crashes and 8 injuries in 2020.

No. 2: MARTIN LUTHER KING JR BLVD @ W SAINT JOSEPH ST, Lansing

Unfortunately, total crashes at this intersection in 2022 were the highest in four years at 55. Previously, there were 31, 45 and 39 total crashes in 2021, 2020 and 2019, respectively.

However, injuries from collisions at the interchange in 2022 were the lowest in four years at 13. Previously, there were 19, 36, and 23 crash-related injuries in 2021, 2020 and 2019, respectively.
