Attorney Brandon Hewitt, and Chief Operating Officer at Michigan Auto Law, has been selected to fill a key leadership role within the Michigan Association for Justice.
Brandon has been appointed chair of the Michigan Association For Justice’s new “Autonomous Vehicles” committee. The new committee is being formed to identify the opportunities and challenges for auto accident attorneys helping people who have been injured in car crashes caused by autonomous or self-driving vehicles.
The appointment is fitting as Michigan Auto Law is the state’s largest law firm specializing in helping people injured in serious injury car accidents, and the new autonomous vehicle committee will take the lead role for MAJ and for lawyers throughout the state in helping preserve justice for accident victims as well as helping the legal profession adapt to new issues and changing laws as autonomous vehicles enter and then transform our world.
Attorney Brandon Hewitt’s leadership in legal community will benefit Michigan Association for Justice
This is a great honor and recognition of the way in which Attorney Brandon Hewitt is distinguishing himself as leader in Michigan’s legal community. Previously, Brandon has been repeatedly named to the Michigan Super Lawyers list, included in the Grand Rapids Magazine’s list of Top Lawyers and voted by his peers to be included on The National Trial Lawyers Top 100 and 40 Under 40 lists. In 2020, the Michigan Association for Justice elected Brandon to be a member of its elite Executive Board. Attorney Brandon Hewitt is also a recognized and well-respected trial attorney, having achieved many notable settlements and verdicts for his clients, including the largest pain and suffering trial verdict in Ottawa County history.
“Brandon will make invaluable contributions to the committee as he does with all endeavors he is a part of,” said attorney Steven M. Gursten, President of Michigan Auto Law. “Looking into the future and anticipating what’s coming next is a unique skill of Brandon’s which will serve him and the committee well as they research, analyze and advise lawmakers on the best ways to protect the driving public as autonomous vehicles and self-driving cars increase their presence on Michigan roadways.”
Michigan Auto Law has closely watched the evolution of the legal side of autonomous vehicles. We have raised important questions – that have yet to be answered – about safety issues and who is to be held liable when an autonomous vehicle is at-fault for causing a car crash.
The mission of the Michigan Association For Justice is “to promote a fair and effective justice system” and “support the work of attorneys in their efforts to ensure that any person who is injured by the misconduct or negligence of others can obtain justice in Michigan’s courtrooms, even when taking on the most powerful interests” such as Michigan’s insurance industry and its army of highly-paid lobbyists.
