Steve Gursten to speak at Michigan Association for Justice No Fault Institute on litigating truck accident cases

June 22, 2013 by Steven M. Gursten

This year, I’ll be speaking to Michigan lawyers on how to handle truck accident cases at the Michigan Association for Justice (MAJ) annual No Fault Institute.  The MAJ was formerly called the Michigan Trial Lawyers Association.

The seminar will be September 19-20. I will talk about the basics for lawyers handling their first trucking cases, and a review and update of the key Federal regulations that lawyers must know in litigating these cases. This also includes the essential documents to ask for in discovery, and understanding logbooks and spoliation of evidence (which is so prevalent in trucking litigation today).

Finally, I will discuss key themes and rules that Michigan lawyers should adopt in these types of cases, and how to have the trucking safety director, the driver, and the owner agree with your own safety themes.
