I’m excited to announce that we have chosen the recipient of our first annual Michigan Auto Law Diversity Scholarship.
We awarded Cooley Law School student Nichollette Hoard with a $2,000 scholarship this week after choosing her application out of many talented law school student applicants.
We chose Nichollette for her commitment to diversity and making a positive difference in people’s lives. For instance, in her internship with the Office of the Public Defender, she has demonstrated a strong work ethic, good character and a willingness to assist other minority interns get acclimated to the requirements and procedures in the office.
Also, her work with the Black Student Union during her undergraduate years at the University of Michigan demonstrated her commitment to diversity and to the student body. And a two-year commitment with an Intergroup Dialogue program enabled her to grow as a facilitator and help bring about change.
Joan Vestrand, Associate Dean and Professor at Cooley’s Ann Arbor campus, said Nichollette is a deserving recipient: “Nicky has a reputation of coming to class prepared and she is poised when called on in class and thinks well on her feet. In addition, she demonstrates good insight on the class material.”
Our car accident lawyers congratulate Nichollette for her accomplishments. We’re excited that she’s going to be part of the next generation of attorneys who are really here to serve and protect the public.
On another note, Michigan Auto Law is currently offering another scholarship for anyone attending a U.S. college or university who was injured in a car accident. The Michigan Auto Law Car Accident Injury Survivor Scholarship was created to lend a hand those injured accident victims who are demonstrating resolve and determination to rebuild their lives.
