Personal injury lawyer gets $2.1 million jury verdict for car accident victim struck by negligent teen driver

Michigan Auto Law won a $2.1 million jury verdict on behalf of our client Douglas Mayher, a car accident victim whose vehicle was struck at an intersection by a speeding teenage driver, Jennifer Martin. Martin was passing a truck on the right gravel shoulder, lost control and crashed into Mayher’s vehicle. Mayher had to be removed by the Jaws of Life and had a traumatic brain injury among many other serious personal injuries.

Mayher returned to work after the car accident, part-time. He underwent traumatic brain injury rehabilitation for more than three years. The defense argued that his brain injury was resolved shortly after the accident, and that the entire claim was questionable. Michigan Lawyers Weekly published the details of the case, which was one of the highest jury verdicts for a car accident lawsuit in Lenawee County.
