Bad Trucking Companies in Michigan
The truck accident lawyers of Michigan Auto Law have provided a list of all
current dangerous Michigan commercial trucking companies — and the numbers
are shocking. As of late 2008, there were 1,087 truck companies with less than
satisfactory safety ratings. The information was provided by the Federal Motor
Carrier Safety Administration, through a Freedom of Information Act request
by our truck accident law firm.

All of the listed Michigan truck companies have either conditional or unsatisfactory
safety ratings. A conditional rating means that the truck company’s records
indicate the truck was out of compliance with one or more safety requirements.
An unsatisfactory rating means that the truck company’s records indicated
evidence of substantial noncompliance with safety requirements. The Federal
Motor Carrier Safety Administration updates the entire database of unsafe trucking
companies each month.

the document, please visit the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration
Data
Element Definitions page. The table will show you, for example, that “CARSHP” refers
to the type of operation in which the company is engaged as well as identifying
it as a carrier, hazardous materials shipper, broker, freight forwarder, cargo
tank facility or registrant.
The unsafe Michigan truck companies listed have fleets ranging from one to
nearly 200 trucks, but the majority have between one and 10 large trucks, such
as tractor-trailers, cargo tank trucks, motor coaches and school buses.
The trucking companies are based in practically every city in Michigan, especially
Detroit, Lansing, Sterling
Heights, Auburn Hills, Dearborn, Monroe, Traverse
City, Grand
Rapids, Holland, Madison Heights, Howell, Farmington Hills, Pontiac,
Utica, Adrian, Saginaw, Warren, Mount Clemens, Ann
Arbor, Muskegon, Battle
Creek, Troy, Ferndale, Flint, Novi, Coldwater, Royal Oak, Canton, Port Huron,
Lake Orion, Romulus, Niles, Lapeer, Berkley, Wixom, Waterford, Milford, Bay
City, Southfield, Westland, Redford, Mount Pleasant, Flint, Albion, Clarkston,
West Bloomfield, Pinconning, Rochester Hills and Oak Park..
We believe the public has an urgent need for this information, because Michigan
trucking companies with less than satisfactory safety ratings are not only
severely endangering Michigan drivers, but are making truck driving more difficult
for the truckers who truly care about safety and follow the rules of the road.
These local trucking companies are not up to snuff, and the state of Michigan
and the federal government must be held accountable.
The truck accident lawyers of Michigan Auto Law have helped enforce important
truck safety regulations to get these dangerous trucks off the road. No other
law firm in Michigan has received more jury verdicts or consistently higher
settlements for truck accident cases. In fact, the vast majority of our wrongful
death and personal injury cases from truck accidents are referred to us by
local attorneys, based upon our record of experience and success.
