How to Contact the Social Security Administration

Car accident injury victims may apply for Social Security Disability benefits by visiting one of the social security disability branch offices located throughout Michigan. For branch locations, or to speak with a representative, an individual can contact the Social Security Administration by dialing 1-800-772-1213 from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Have your Social Security number when you call.

An injured person may also apply for Social Security Disability benefits online at http://www.ssa.gov by clicking on “Apply for Benefits” and then following the “Apply for Retirement / Disability / Spouse’s Benefits” link. Applicants can check the status of a recently submitted application at this site. Most applicants will receive a decision from the Social Security Administration within 3 to 5 months.
