Truck attorney Steven Gursten tells The Grand Rapids Press that it’s motor carriers’ responsibility to ensure their truck drivers are not on the phone behind the wheel
Truck drivers in West Michigan — and throughout the state — are not aware of the new law that prohibits truckers from using a cell phone in any capacity while behind the wheel, attorney Steven Gursten told The Grand Rapids Press.
Gursten was interviewed in a story about how many truck companies and truck drivers have no clue about the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration cell phone ban for truckers.
Said Gursten, “More than 5,000 people are killed each year in accidents involving semi trucks. It’s very different from you and I driving a normal passenger vehicle. These are drivers who are held to a higher standard.”
