Finally, a closed head injury called a hemorrhage is bleeding caused by the escape of blood from a blood vessel. Nursing care for the patient with a subarachnoid hemorrhage remains the same as for the hematomas.

Survivors of closed head injuries often suffer severe physiological and psychological handicaps. These handicaps result in a serious social and economic loss for the brain injury survivor and for the community, making it a major health problem.
