*Includes all automobile accidents that occurred on overpasses as well as the on/off ramps.
Before our attorneys get into more detail on some of these specific crossroads, please keep in mind, the above list includes “total car accidents ” – meaning the combined total of property-damage-only, injury and fatality crashes.
No. 1: Bay Road and Tittabawassee Road – Kochville/Saginaw Townships
The Saginaw County intersection with the most car crashes in 2015 is a busy shopping area near I-675. The spot also had the highest number of wrecks in 2014, spiking from 46 car accidents to 59 in over a year. Unfortunately, we see quite a few crossings along Tittabawassee Road that have a high number of motor vehicle accidents. In fact, there were 160 total car crashes at all interchanges on this road between I-675 and Center Road in 2015.
No. 2: Birch Run Road and I-75* – Birch Run
When adding all crashes on the on/off ramps as well as the overpasses, this area came in second on the list. Given the high traffic volumes from the outlet stores and Frankenmuth-bound tourists, we’re not too surprised by these numbers.
No. 3: Bay Road and McCarty Road – Saginaw Township
Just a mile or so south of the top intersection is another busy section of Bay Road. It’s important that drivers use caution on multi-lane stretches of road with higher speed limits – as these types of traffic areas frequently correspond to higher crash frequencies.
