Which Livingston County streets pose the highest risk for an auto accident?

Our attorneys list the Livingston County intersections with the most reported car accidents

Livingston County is experiencing a population boom, which is great. But more people and more cars usually means more car accidents. Today our Michigan Auto Law attorneys are sharing the latest crash data for Livingston County, so residents know which streets and intersections pose the greatest risk of a motor vehicle accident.

We’ve compiled two lists below. Our first list covers the total number of automobile accidents in 2014 in Livingston County. Note that while total numbers of crashes are important, this number can also be a bit misleading. This is because many of these crashes are low-speed fender benders, with little or no personal injuries reported to investigating police officers at the scene.

Our second list is arguably the more important one and shows the auto accidents where an investigating police officer reported a serious injury or a death at the crash scene. This list is a better indicator of the more dangerous accident locations, where cars are likely traveling at higher speeds and there’s a higher chance of sustaining a serious injury.

The data is from the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments website.

A new intersection took the title of first place this year, as the corner of Grand River Avenue and Latson Road in Howell had 47 total crashes in 2014. With busy shopping and the I-96 interchange nearby, frequent crashes are going to be common in the area. But it was surprising to see the amount of accidents jump to that level from 32 crashes in 2013. This area also had the most injury accidents last year with six, including one that was fatal.

The Eastbound I-96 Ramp and Grand River Avenue in Brighton came in second with 42 crashes after holding the No. 1 spot for the previous five years. Please continue to use caution in these areas.

And let Michigan Auto Law know what you think. Do you drive through these intersections? Why do you think they’re so treacherous?
