And that’s just in the southeastern area of the state — not Michigan as a whole. Many of these accidents occurred at very busy intersections. Southeast Michigan’s Most Dangerous Intersections
Van Dyke Avenue and 11 Mile Road in Centerline, Macomb County
The intersection of Van Dyke Avenue and 11 Mile Road in Centerline, Michigan, is the most dangerous in all of southeast Michigan. It is located near Interstate 696, as the highway begins to run parallel to 11 Mile Road. The intersection had more than 650 car crashes last year.
11 Mile Road and Southfield Road in Southfield, Oakland County
Coming in as the second most dangerous intersection is 11 Mile Road and Southfield Road in Southfield, Michigan. With 11 Mile Road running parallel to Interstate 696 at the intersection, it’s easy to understand why this spot had nearly 600 car accidents in 2007.
12 Mile Road and Telegraph Road in Southfield, Oakland County
12 Mile Road in the Oakland County area has two intersections responsible for nearly 900 auto accidents last year. One of these intersections, 12 Mile Road and Telegraph Road in Southfield, Michigan had more than 560 crashes alone.
12 Mile Road and Orchard Lake Road in Farmington, Oakland County
The other intersection on 12 Mile Road that is responsible for the other portion of nearly 900 accidents that occurred on this stretch of road is 12 Mile Road and Orchard Lake Road in Farmington, Michigan. The crossroads near Interstate 696 are responsible for nearly 350 traffic crashes last year.
Ford Road and Haggerty Road in Canton, Wayne County
Rounding out the list of the 5 Most Dangerous Intersections in Southeast Michigan is Ford Road and Haggerty Road in Canton, Michigan. Not far from Interstate 275, this intersection has experienced close to 330 motor vehicle crashes.
With so many traffic crashes happening around metro Detroit and with Michigan’s notorious no-fault law stipulations and time limits to file accident cases, it’s wise to print and keep this accident scene checklist in case you find yourself or a loved one in a car accident situation.
