More about the Brain Injury Association of Michigan

The Brain Injury Association of Michigan is a non-profit organization that provides education, advocacy, research opportunities and support to brain injury survivors, their families, and the people who serve them. The organization also provides brain injury prevention information to communities across the state.

The mission of the Brain Injury Association of Michigan is to improve the quality of life for people following brain injury. The saying this month is that brain injury can happen anytime, anywhere to anyone.

Brain injury does not discriminate, and it affects us all.

The social effects of TBI include increased risk of suicide, divorce, chronic unemployment, economic strain and substance abuse, according to the National Institutes of Health. But the Brain Injury Association of Michigan aims to help people before it gets to that unfortunate point.

Whether it’s a mild injury that simply requires rest and monitoring or a catastrophic injury that can result in permanent disabilities, traumatic brain injuries are physical injuries to the brain that require expert, specialized assessment and treatment to ensure the best long-term outcome. The Brain Injury Association of Michigan helps survivors every step of the way.
