Danger of “Bad Trucks” is a Crisis, 123 Michigan Residents Killed

As the only law firm handling truck accidents in Michigan, our lawyers want all Michigan drivers to know how dangerous bad trucks, unfit drivers, and rogue trucking companies have become. As of April 2009, there are now 1,072 Michigan trucking companies with less-than-satisfactory safety ratings, according to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). This means that about one in three trucks on Michigan roads currently have defective brakes, bad tires, loads that dangerously exceed weight limitations, and unfit drivers with little or no safety training.

And the shocking numbers of out-of-service and poorly maintained trucks is continuing to rise.

500 Dangerous Trucking Companies Operating Under New Names

Last Wednesday, the U.S. Government Accountability office (GAO) released a new report on unsafe commercial trucks and buses that’s highly disturbing, even to the lawyers in our law firm, who have been handling truck accidents for more than 50 years. The report found that more than 500 trucking and bus companies that were ordered by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMSCA) to be shut down for safety violations are continuing to operate under different names.

Our auto accident lawyers would like to share some exciting news with our cherished clients and friends. We will be moving our Southfield law offices at 26555 Evergreen Road to a new location. We have purchased a building solely for Michigan Auto Law, at 30101 Northwestern Highway, in Farmington Hills. The switch should be complete during the first quarter of next year, after extensive renovations.
