What Damages are available in wrongful death claims and How Do I Pay the Personal Injury Trial Lawyers?

As with most personal injury lawsuits, damage awards for a wrongful death claims are monetary. Initially it may sound awkward trying to place a monetary value on the death of a loved one; however, these awards range from replacing earnings that the loved one would have contributed for the family to medical and funeral expenses incurred in the accident. Below is a list of the most common awards:

1. Medical and funeral expenses
2. Loss of projected future earnings
3. Loss of benefits (pension, medical coverage, etc.)
4. Loss of inheritance
5. Pain and suffering or mental anguish to the survivors
6. Loss of care, protection, companionship to the survivors
7. General damages

Paying for our services is easy because we work on a contingency basis. You will not have to write large retainer checks; in fact, you will not have to write any checks. We receive our fee at the end of the lawsuit as a percentage of the settlement or verdict. This arrangement keeps the personal injury law firm's financial incentives directly aligned with the clients because if the client does not get compensated, the wrongful death attorney does not get paid. In Michigan, this contingency percentage is 33.3% (other states range from 40% to 60%).
