MICHIGAN INSURANCE LAW PROTECTIONS FOR CATASTROPHIC AND EXTRAORDINARY INJURY – MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT CLAIMS

Statistically, motorcycle accident injuries are far worse than those suffered by people involved in other types of vehicular accidents.  In the event of extraordinary injury, a motorcycle rider requiring medical coverage will also be able to receive protection under the Michigan Catastrophic Claims Association.

The Michigan Catastrophic Claims Association (MCCA) involved claims for medical expenses that exceeded $375,000, for the year 2005-2006.

As motorcycle driving can be dangerous, and motorcyclists in serious accidents will suffer injuries that will require significant medical attention, motorcyclists do pay the Michigan MCCA fee.  Although motorcyclists make up less than 2 percent of MCCA funds in Michigan, they account for 6.2% of all MCCA claims that are paid.
